Damask Divas Ivy Lane Blog Hop

Welcome to Keepable Paper Creations - a place where your creations are always "keepers".  You have "landed" on my contribution to the Damask Divas February Ivy Lane Blog Hop.  My name is Brenda Zimmerman, and I am an Independent Consultant with Close To My Heart.  I hope you are enjoying all of the fabulous ideas coming your way!

If you came from Amy Kiger's Blogyou are in the right place.  If you have jumped here and just discovered our blog hop, feel free to check the list at our Damask Divas Blog to find the complete list of blog hop participants.

So... I went the predictable route for my February Ivy Lane blog hop entry, but with an unpredictable project.  If you follow card boards on Pinterest or are a member of a card group on Facebook, then you've probably seen these "popping up" all over the place.  Well, if you're like me, you've also fallen head over heals for them, too!

This Pop-up Box Card is much more than a card! I'm still unsure as to why they call it a card at all - except that it starts out as one - somewhat flat as pictured here... Yes - I did say somewhat - hee-hee!

Because the folks on the boards and groups I follow are so kind, they shared a link for this pop-up box tutorial, provided by Splitcoaststampers.  I followed it measurement for measurement... and it was, as they say, "super easy".  For not ever making one before, I must say, the card creation portion went fabulous!  Thank you, Splitcoaststampers!

AND THEN THEY SAY EMBELLISH... hahaha... this is always the hard part for me... what to fill it with and how.  This is where the magic of Close To My Heart comes in.  We are SO excited about our new CTMH Idea Book (launching TODAY, Feb 1st), as it has so many new goodies inside, including accessories, papers, workshops and, of course, stamps.  Well let me tell you, the new Idea Book came in handy for me here, because, although I just had to incorporate our Cloud Nine National Papercrafting Month "Love You" Stamp, I was at a loss for the other embellishments I would choose.

I sat for what seemed like hours (crafter's block!) looking through past Stamps of the Month for the perfect Valentine greetings, when it hit me.  Ivy Lane Card Workshop.  I have that.  Oh and the new Lollydoodle Card Worksop - yep - I've got that, too.  And how can anyone go wrong when they have the help of our Cricut Art Philosophy and Artiste cartridge? All of a sudden the creative juices started flowing again, and I fell in love with what I was creating.

At first, I used the Cloud Nine Stamp to create the Love You hearts you see in the middle.  Then I used the heart from the Sweet & Lovely Stamp Set, included in the Artbooking Cricut Collection to create the graphic 3-d hearts.  Everything that is taller here, by the way, is attached using acetate (or its equivalent from leftover Cricut Cartridge packages), to give the "wobbly" effect (look closely at the budding flower on the right and you can see it).

The dainty bows on the side panels are courtesy of the Cricut Artiste Cartridge, another exclusive cartridge from Close To My Heart.  Not only are they fun and so so pretty, they're the EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD to make... well... with the help of a hot glue gun, anyways!

Cricut Art Philosophy helped to make the dainty pink "Hooray Bouquet" stamped flowers, and I embellished them both with Close To My Heart's Base & Bling Floral Accents. Whew! (I told you I got on a roll!).  I couldn't resist our January Stamp of the Month, and used it as the backdrop for the whole thing, stamping "You are the Best", because I think, no matter who I give it to will deserve this statement :).

And finally, in my quest for a stamp that would say the perfect thing, I thought of the sentiment stamp inside the Lollydoodle Card Workshop on the Go Kit.  How perfect for that person who just compliments everything you do - you are - and you hope to become.

I have really just fallen in love with these Pop-up Card Boxes... Especially with the help of my Close To My Heart tools.  It all came together so easily when I realized how well all of our products work together.
If you'd like to see this Pop-Up Box Card in Motion (yep it wabbles), then please check out my video link here.  It's just a quick video displaying how the "card" opens and closes.

If you'd like to create a project similar to this one, I encourage you to just do it. Jump in and don't be afraid to go for it.  What you come up with will always result in a sense of accomplishment and pride, because YOU DID IT... and if I can help you to succeed in your crafting passion by providing the tools you need to "get it done", then I will feel accomplished right along with you!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  The next blog on the list is Cydney Fowler's Blog.  Hope you enjoy checking out all the creations using our Ivy Lane Paper Pack as well as all that is new in our NEW IDEA BOOK!  The rest of our hop is just a click away, but if you get lost, just hop on over to Damask Divas Blog for the full list!
